Play starts with a TAP at dead center field. Defense back 10M. TAGS can be made with as little as one finger anywhere on the ball carrier including the ball or the carriers clothing. A TAG creates a MARK on the field. The ball carrier must perform a ROLL BALL on the MARK, failure to do so is a turnover. The defense must retreat 5M from the MARK before attacking the ball. The DUMMY HALF must play the ball from the MARK with no delay on a tag. If the DUMMY HALF is tagged possession is turned over. Your team turns the ball over on the 6th TAG. ROUGH TAGS are a penalty. Penalties are started with a TAP, defense back 10M. If you are tagged and then pass the ball it is called a TOUCH PASS and your team turns over possession of the ball. You cannot smack the ball out of the carrier’s hands. ________________________________________________________________ [important] Games will have a referee/coach to help players get a good grasp of the rules and understand the game of Touch Rugby. We will run 2 games if required and skill levels can be split depending on attendance. [/important] See you at Lake Trail!...

Written by Mike Magee, Photos by Michelle Hamilton May 1, 2013, (ISN) - The road to the Provincial Championship for the Comox Valley Kickers runs through Cumberland this Saturday as they get set to host a semi-final of the Division 3 Tier 2 BC Championship in Village Park at 1pm. The Kickers qualified for the Provincial Championship after securing a spot in the NVIRU Championship game last fall. The top seeds from the fall and then the spring competition have a chance to play first for the Island Championship in the revamped Island 3rd division. After the Island Championship is decided both teams are off to the BC Championships as a top seed in both Tier A and B. With the NVIRU trophy back on site this last Sunday the #1 ranked team in the spring of 2013 the Velox Valhallians (7-1) took to the field to defend the trophy against the #1 ranked team from the Fall 2012 competition, the Comox Valley Kickers (6-0). These teams have met numerous times in the Championship game over the last several years with mighty Valhallians from Victoria always managing to come out on top in very tight competitive games. As the Kickers managed to put a respectable effort in the finals time after time, the depth of the Valhallians bench seems to be the difference maker in the later stages of the encounters. Since winning their first NVIRU trophy in the spring of 2010, Velox has claimed it 6 times in the last 4 years. Ideal field and weather conditions on Herd Rd. as the kick off sailed through the air...
