What a day we had in Nanaimo! Six U11 teams (Castaways-Victoria, Velox-Victoria, Cowichan, Nanaimo, Campbell River and the Comox Valley Kickers) + 4 U13 + 4U9 teams (our U9 player hooked-up with Cowichan for his first rugby game) =130 players with 5 separate games being played at any one time!
All our kids played with heart. This was our second game of contact as a club and the first game for 5 of our new players. Everyone did well but a special congratulation to those first time players who matched our overall commitment and enthusiasm. We learned a lot yesterday and still had fun.
Thanks to all the parents who made the trip and supported their player, to Ona Thorington who kept things rolling as well as everyone else who lent a helping hand. Special thanks to Melissa McLachlan for the pics which are posted on our Facebook page at: https://www.facebook.com/ pages/Comox-Valley-Rugby- Rascals/261788750608920
A reminder that this Wednesday’s practice is at 5:00 PM @ Fallen Alders Hall on Royston Road with our Sunday practice scheduled for 1:00 PM @ Comox Recreation Centre.
Next jamboree: Cowichan will host at Shawnigan Lake April 7th at 10:00 AM instead of at Cowichan on March 24th (Spring Break). This means a long day for ourselves and CR however it promises to be a festive occasion held on the same pitch as Canada has played on in past years, plus our attendance increases the probability of Victoria teams coming here in succeeding years.
