The excitement is palpable as the Comox Valley Kickers RFC gear up to host the highly anticipated 2024 BC Rugby Senior Club Quarterfinals. After 8 grueling months of the regular season, both the women’s and men’s teams have secured home-field advantage for the quarterfinals. The stage is now set, and the stakes are high. On Saturday, April 20 at Cumberland Village Park, the women’s team will face off against the Kelowna Crows while the men’s team will have a rematch against Richmond RFC.
“We’ve been training hard and fine-tuning our game plan for this moment,” said Women’s Coach JB Nikkel. “The quarterfinals are where champions are made, and we’re ready to give it our all out there on the field.”
The quarterfinal matches promise to be a spectacle of skill, determination, and raw athleticism with both teams vying for a coveted spot in the semifinals. For the Comox Valley Kickers RFC, the home advantage adds an extra layer of motivation as it is the first time both the women’s and men’s teams have hosted a playoff game together.
“We’re incredibly grateful for the support from our club, community, and sponsors. We’re determined to make them proud,” remarked Women’s Team Captain Natalie Nguyen. “The quarterfinals are a chance for us to showcase the work we’ve put in, and we’re ready to leave everything on the field.”
At the game, spectators can indulge in a variety of food and drink offerings as well as stock up on rugby gear and Kickers branded merchandise to show their support in style both on and off the field.
