Comox Valley Women Wrap Up In Great Style

Comox Valley Women Wrap Up In Great Style

On Saturday December 3rd Comox Valley Kickers Women travelled to Port Alberni to play in a round robin with Nanaimo and Port Alberni to complete the fall season. Low numbers prompted the coaches to divide all the girls into Comox Valley “Pink” and Port Alberni “Black” sides. The first half evolved into a defensive standoff with neither team being able to score. However with resumption of play, a quick pick close to the try line put Pink up 5-0. Within a few minutes Black replied after quick ball off the breakdown. The convert made the score 7-5 After a lot of back and forth, Black capitalized on a gap in the Pink defense running the ball over in what turned out to be the final phase of the game. Final score: Blacks 12 Pinks 5. When asked about her impressions of the day, Comox Valley captain, Aimee Burley stated, “Today is what rugby is about. It didn’t matter who your teammates were for the day, they were just out to have fun, win or lose! Port Alberni’s hosting was top-notch and all three teams meshed well on the pitch, everyone was smiling and having a great time. When the final whistle blew the girls the weren’t quite ready to call it a day.” Comox woman now enter the winter break with training sessions once a week. Tigger Too and Comox Valley Kickers Women team up to make christmas brighter for those in need

Again this year, Tigger Too Preschool has been overwhelmed with the donations brought in by the children for the Santa's Workshop Toy Drive. This year, Tigger Too Early Learning Centre and The Comox Valley Kickers Womens Rubgy team has hopped on board to make this year one of the most successful.   The children from the two centres have been encouraged to bring in some gently used toys that could be brought in to Santas Workshop and distributed to children who may not have as much as they do. "We find that this is a really great way to get the children involved in the community on a level they can really appreciate." says Tigger Too Preschool's Charlene Gray. "We pile the toys in the preschool for the two week donation period, so the children can really see how many toys they've accumulated to donate. They get quite excited."  The children from Tigger Too Early Learning Centre also collected a whole lot of toys and flexed their muscles when it was time to load them up. The Comox Valley Kicker's Womens Rugby Team representatives Aimee Burley and Lindsay Mallette were grateful for their little helpers when they arrived to add Tigger Too''s donations to what they had collected. The truckloads of toys brought to  Santa's Workshop on December 3rd will be repaired as needed, and distributed to those who really need...
